And So Is A New Video Game Capoeirista...

That's right kids. Coming soon to an arcade this summer (supposedly sometime July/August in the US) is a new installment in the popular martial arts video game. The third installment, with it's introduction of a surprisingly well developed capoeira character, Eddy Gordo, increased interest around the world in capoeira. Considering the marketing pull that the video game designer (Namco) & Sony (the Tekken series is licensed to the Playstation platform) have around the world, the introduction of a new capoeira character will also fan the flames of interest in capoeira among the younger set. The new character is a female character named Christie Monteiro (Thank god! A real Portuguese name this time, unlike good old "Fat Eddy"). No news beyond that at the moment. But Planet Capoeira says well done! More exposure for capoeira, and a blow for women's equality in the same shot. Supposedly there is also a Brazilian Vale Tudo fighter in the game.
